In my anecdotal experience, Korean parents are extremely child-centric. There may also be secondary correlations that result in Korean parents exposing their children to a lot of verbal interaction -- i.e., if, as I suspect after I write my dissertation, Koreans are much more likely than average US citizens to be in two-parent families, it would follow that Korean children are much more likely to be in homes where there are two adults present much of the time with the result that the child would, at a minimum, hear the adult-adult verbal interaction + common sense suggests that, if there are two parents living in the home, there will be many more adult hours available each week for adult-child verbal interaction than if there is only one parent living in the home.
